The Stay Different Colour Guide

Find the shade that does not just match you — it feels like you.

  2. 02 Shades
  3. 03 The look
  4. 04 Harmony or contrast

Before you choose

Your shade starts here

The right colour does more than look good in a photo. It warms your complexion, brightens your eyes and makes people ask what you have changed.

Three things point you in the right direction: your skin tone (how light or deep you are), your undertone (the colour beneath the surface) and contrast (how much your hair stands apart from your skin).

Consider this a guide, not a rulebook. The best shade is the one you feel most like yourself in — and if that breaks every rule here, even better.

  1. Skin tone

How light or deep your skin is on the surface. It changes with the seasons.

  2. Undertone

The warm, cool or neutral colour underneath. It never changes.

  3. Contrast

How far your hair sits from your skin. Low blends, high makes a statement.

Step 01 — Know your undertone

Know your undertone

Skin tone is the shade you see in the mirror — fair, medium, deep. Undertone is the subtle hue underneath it, and it stays the same whether you are winter-pale or holiday-bronzed. It is the secret to a shade that looks expensive instead of off.

Three quick questions. Go with your first instinct.

01 Look at the veins on your inner wrist in daylight. What colour are they?
02 Which jewellery makes your skin glow?
03 How does your skin react to the sun?

Colour, with texture

Colour looks different on curls

Curls and coils catch light differently to straight hair, so dimension reads deeper and highlights pop harder. These two were made for it.

Step 04 — Harmony or contrast?

Harmony or contrast?

Once you know your undertone, decide how loud you want to be. There is no wrong answer — only a different one.

Harmony

Blend in beautifully

Match your hair to your undertone — warm with warm, cool with cool. The result is seamless, soft and naturally "is that your real hair?"

Contrast

Stand out on purpose

Pair opposites — cool skin with golden warmth, deep skin with bright blonde — and turn your hair into the statement. Contrast is not a mistake. It is a choice.
